Our History

We have been in business building and renovating quality homes for a reasonable price since 1992.  We especially enjoy designing and building unique projects with many custom features that you simply won’t find with other builders.  We are very passionate about our work and firmly believe in building the right way….the first time.

This is our first custom built home. Prior to beginning the project, we heard many horror stories pertaining to builders and the building process, so we entered this adventure somewhat skeptical. As Cindy and I look back on it today, we realize it was one of the smartest moves we ever made. The quality, attention to detail, and personal interest that you showed during the entire building phase made it a most enjoyable experience. There were no surprises along the way, and each stage was completed according to the schedule you had outlined. The fact that you and Amanda live in the neighborhood showed us the confidence you must have in your workmanship. 

By allowing us the flexibility to make some construction modifications that better suited our needs, plus the fact that we were involved with every detail from the style of the brick, to the color of the blades in the ceiling fans, we truly have a custom built home. - Steve and Cindy Gillespie

We feel this home has been built with the finest materials and care of quality workmanship. The level of detail and innovations in design in our new home is more than we had hoped for when we moved to Lexington from the central Kentucky area. We truly enjoy the open design of the main level of the house, combining a large inviting kitchen and eating area with direct access to the living area. Large windows also provide natural light and open the house up to the outdoors. The large bedrooms on the upper level provide each member of our family with a space to call their own. Gatewood took the time to listen to our ideas and our needs, and he incorporated them into his original blueprint. People who took pride in their craftsmanship, and who paid attention to the details, built our home in a timely manner. The schedule Gatewood gave us at the beginning of the building process gave us a feeling of order, assurance, and predictability. We knew what to expect and when to expect it. We felt good knowing that our homebuilder was involved every step of the way. Gatewood's caring, friendly, and professional manner made building our dream home a joy. 

We also had the good fortune of working with Amanda Arnold, who guided us through the process of selecting flooring, paint colors, and our bathroom and kitchen amenities. I thought the task would be overwhelming, but Amanda made it fun and easy. We have lived in our home for almost three years, I still wake up, walk out of my bedroom, and think, "I LOVE my house!"  Building a home with Gatewood Arnold was a wonderful experience for us. - Sandy Adland
